Peanut Butter Biscuits de Benny

Hoje é 8 de Benny aniversário e ele queria compartilhar suas manteiga de amendoim caseiro Biscoitos com todos como um presente especial.

There aren’t many dog biscuits available that are vegan and filled with healthy ingredientes. Fazendo o seu próprio é tão fácil e começar a escolher os seus próprios ingredientes não tem preço. Benny ama estes pequenos biscoitos. They taste like shortbread which I know because they are human-friendly too!

These biscuits cook so quickly, you’ll want to make a fresh batch every week. Add whatever flavors your furry kid likes best – sweet potato, abóbora, carob, etc. Benny’s Peanut Butter Biscuits will have lots of tails wagging with happiness. Desfrutar!

Faz 60 2-inch biscuits
1 cup whole wheat pastry flour or 1/2 cup whole wheat pastry flour and 1/2 copo sorghum flour
1/4 cup almond meal
1/4 xícara de aveia em flocos
1/2 TSP. sal
2 Tbs. manteiga de amendoim
2 TSP. melaço
1 TSP. baunilha
1/4 cup coconut oil, derretido
3/4 xícara de água

Pré-aqueça o forno a 400 graus. Prepare two large baking sheets with parchment paper. Em uma tigela grande, combine the dry ingredients. Em uma tigela de tamanho médio, combine the peanut butter, melaço, vanilla and coconut oil. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Add the water and mix until you have a dough. Add more flour or water as needed; the dough should be smooth.

Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 15 atas. Chilled dough is smoother and easier to work with. When you are ready to use the dough, unwrap it and cut it in half. Put half back in the refrigerator to keep chilled while you work with the other half.

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead a few minutes. Roll the dough out to about 1/2 inch thickness. Using cookie cutters, press out shapes. Put the biscuits on the baking sheet. Re-roll the leftover dough and press out more biscuits. Continue until you have used all the dough.
Asse por 18 atas, turning the pans around half-way through. If you use bigger cookie cutters, the biscuits will need to bake longer. They are ready when the biscuits are browned and crisp. Let cool on the baking sheets for 2 atas, and then transfer to a plate. Store the biscuits in a closed container. Woof!

Being vegetarian for 21 years and vegan about 90% of the time, I often wonder, am I being cruel to animals because I buy meat based pet food for my animals. Years ago I bought vegan cat and dog food until someone told me that they, especially cats need meat and can’t be vegetarian. Everything I read says that’s true. So once I really sit down and think about it, some animals have to die so that others can eat and live. What are your thoughts on this.

Hi Michele, I can’t speak for cats since I have never had one. But dogs are not carnivores, they are omnivores and can do well on a vegan diet. There are many dogs who eat a vegan diet and live long, healthy lives. My Benny is vegan and thrives on the diet. Animals do not have to die for dogs to eat well. There are several brands of vegan dog food which is supplemented with all the fresh veggies, grains, etc.

This is a good article to read: http://www.veganpoet.com/articles/dogs-can-be-vegan-too.htm

My neighbor makes her own dog and cat foods, so thought this would be a nice surprise for her dogs – until I read that they are human friendly. I’ll just pass this recipe along…otherwise I see too much of a temptation to keep the whole batch to myself! Thank you and take care! >^;^<

Benny has had no trouble with these. It’s almond meal, not whole or chopped nuts.

Oh these look terrific! Só uma pergunta: I have read that dogs don’t digest almonds very well? What’s been your experience?
